The Richmond Parks & Recreation Department and Richmond Fire Department (RFD) are teaming up to bring a fun day beating the heat with their Spray Down Days.
An RFD fire truck will park in different locations around town to spray water for kids to cool off from the warm weather. The dates, times, and locations are as follows:
• Tuesday July 21st 2-3pm at Betty Miller Park
• Wednesday July 22nd 2-3pm at Irvine-McDowell Park
• Tuesday July 28th 2-3pm at Robinson Terrace
• Wednesday July 29th 2-3pm at Ann L. Durham Lake Reba Recreational Complex
Members of the Fire Department will safely spray attendees with their water hoses and nozzles. Erin Moore, Parks and Recreation Director, added “We are excited to bring this experience to kids and their families to help beat the heat this summer! We wanted to offer this opportunity to encourage kids to get outside and play, which is appropriate during July, which is National Parks and Recreation Month.”
Both the RFD and Parks and Recreation hope these events can provide some fun for people who are looking for ways to still enjoy the hot summer days. All events will be following all social distancing guidelines including remaining 6ft apart from those not in your household, wearing a mask when applicable, and staying home if feeling sick.
