The lyrics for Josh Turner’s song Long Black Train say “there’s victory in the Lord, I say Victory in the Lord.” Last night at The Vine, it was truly a “VICTORY” for The Vine and Dreamland Entertainment.
Josh Turner has been making music for over 20 years, and after his show at The Vine this writer understands why Josh is a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Every song, including his new releases from his latest album “This Country Music Thing” were excellent. Josh’s voice is quite unique as well.
From the beginning until the end of the concert, Josh Turner stayed true to his love for country music. He played several songs from his newest album “This Country Music Thing,” and the crowd enjoyed every new song, especially the title song This Country Music Thing. The lyrics for Josh’s next hit go like this: I’m a member of the Grand Ole Opry-People like the way I sing-I’m shakin’ your hand and thankin’ the man for this country music thing-This country music thi-ing-ing-ing.
Josh sang several of his greatest hits early in the show including Firecracker, Deep South (Thank the Lord that I am from the south), Unsung Hero (a tribute to his grandfather who was a veteran), Time is Love, Everything is Fine, Hometown Girl (She never forgot where she came from), Me and God (A tribute to Ralph Stanley, and My Side (From his latest album).
Josh did take a moment to introduce his band which he referred to as The Talkin’ Honkies. The members were Shawn Bailey on fiddle; Grayson Lilly on lead guitar, TJ Wilder on the drums; Steve Nelson on steel guitar; Paul Harrigil on acoustic guitar and banjo; and Evan Winsor on bass.
Josh finished his show with several crowd favorites like Would You Go with Me, Why Don’t We Dance, and Your Man. Josh’s encore was, of course, Long Black Train. Thank you, Josh Turner, for bringing a little happiness to Madison County and The Vine and for putting up with the Kentucky humidity.
The two opening artists were Mt Vernon’s own Jake Vanover and his friends as well as Savannah Dean Reeves from Georgetown.
