To say that Phil Vassar and his band heated up the stage at The Vine is an understatement. Phil’s t-shirt was drenched by the end of his hour and half show, and the crowd was treated to a fabulous show last night at The Vine.
Phil continually thanked The Vine and Dreamland Entertainment for bringing him to Richmond, Kentucky throughout the entire show, and this fan could tell that the singer/songwriter really enjoyed playing at the newest amphitheater in Kentucky.
Last night, Vassar sang hit songs he wrote for artists like My Next Thirty Years for Tim McGraw, She’s Right on the Money for Alan Jackson, Little Red Rodeo for Collin Raye, and I’m Alright for Jo Dee Messina.
Just Another Day in Paradise was Vassar’s first #1 hit song, and his second #1 hit song was In a Real Love. Everyone in attendance was pleased when Phil Vassar sang both songs while rocking his piano.
Two other songs performed last night were Last Day of My Life and Love Is a Beautiful Thing, and both songs reached #2 on the country charts. Vassar wrote Last Day of My Life for his friend Robert Byrne after attending Robert’s funeral. Byrne was the co-writer of the single entitled Rose Bouquet released in 2001.
Another favorite of this fan that Vassar performed was Six Pack of Summer which was written by Vasser, Tommy Roco, and Charlie Black. This song reached #9 on the country charts. Vassar inserted intervals of Stay by Jackson Browne and Oh What a Night by Frankie Valli into Six Pack of Summer which was quite entertaining.
Vassar really enjoyed playing his version of Workin’ for a Livin’ which was made popular by Huey Lewis and the News. American Child, written by Phil Vasar and Craig Wiseman, was an additional treat for the crowd as well as Pattie Cossentino who played the saxophone on several of Vassar’s tunes.
Vassar closed out the night with his version of Piano Man playing the piano and harmonica just like his musica hero Billy Joel.
