The KCSAA Middle School State Tournament, held December 13 at the Rocky Hollow Recreation Center in Somerset, Kentucky, proved to be a memorable and historic day for Madison Christian Academy, as both the Lady Knights volleyball team and the Knights basketball team captured state championships.
The Lady Knights middle school volleyball team delivered an outstanding performance under the leadership of Head Coach Melinda Lawrence and Assistant Coach Christen Riley, competing in five matches throughout the tournament. They opened play with a dominant two-set victory over Cumberland Christian of Somerset. In their second match, the Lady Knights faced FAITH Homeschool of Elizabethtown in a tightly contested three-set battle, falling in three sets. Showing resilience and determination, the team rebounded with a two-set win over Nelson County Baptist of Bardstown, followed by another two-set victory against Bourbon Christian of Millersburg .Those wins earned the Lady Knights a rematch with FAITH in the championship match. The Lady Knights rose to the moment, sweeping the championship in two sets, 21–14 and 21–14, to claim the KCSAA Middle School State title.
The Knights middle school basketball team matched that success with a championship run of their own. Led by Head Coach Neal Settle and Assistant Coach Matt Sabin, the Knights opened tournament play with a win over Cumberland Christian of Somerset. They advanced to the championship game after defeating LIGHT of Lancaster in the semifinals. In the title matchup, the Knights overcame FAITH of Elizabethtown by a final score of 45–34 to secure the state championship. The victory improved the Knights’ season record to an impressive 8–0.
With both programs bringing home state titles on the same day, the tournament highlighted the talent, perseverance, and competitive spirit of Madison Christian Academy’s middle school athletes and coaching staffs.
