Richmond Parks and Rec Announce New September Events

The cancellation of social events during this year has become an all too familiar occurrence. However, Richmond Parks and Recreation has announced two new events that aim to keep families entertained and, more importantly, safe.

The two events will take place on consecutive days, starting with a drive-in movie hosted at Eastern Kentucky University’s Alumni Coliseum on September 11th. Attendees of the event will get to watch a special screening of Disney’s National Treasure. The function will be the first ever drive-in movie event hosted by Richmond Parks and Rec, and was planned following the cancellation of this year’s Movies in the Park event series.

To be able to attend the drive-in, individuals must pre-register and provide information as required by contact tracing requirements and social distancing guidelines. A FM radio is required for the viewing and concessions will not be provided.

The second event, happening on September 12th, is the Kite-Fest taking place at the Lake Reba Softball Fields. Starting at 10 AM that day, families will be able to make and fly their own kites.

For additional event information, you can contact Richmond Parks & Recreation by phone at (859) 623-8753 or by e-mail at parksandrec@richmond.ky.us.
