If you are planning on taking a swim soon or going golfing, statewide tax increases will affect the price you pay, effective the first of next month. According to Erin Moore with Richmond Parks and recreation, there is a 6% increase on services at the statewide level, which affects us here in Madison County.
Moore said they are rounding up to the nearest dollar, so it is not much of an increase. She does mention that other services, such as lockers at Paradise Cove, are even taxed now.
Moore adds that there have not been any price changes in about 6 years at the pool, so it was time anyway, even though this was something the city did not want to do.
