If you don’t recognize the name Ted Williams, you would surely know his voice once you hear it. The ‘Man with the Golden Voice’ became a viral sensation in 2011, when he was filmed by a news reporter on a street corner as a homeless former radio announcer.
With his background in media, he had no problem sitting down with WBONTV’s Marisa Hempel and filled her in on the series of events that led him to talk show circuits and jobs using his talent for voiceover.
Williams visited Madison County to speak at Eastside Community Church in front of thousands, and then took time out of his busy schedule to speak to the women of Liberty Place, a long-term substance abuse treatment center in Richmond.
He told his story to nearly 100 women of the program about how he was able to get his life back on track soon after his video was broadcast across the internet, including how Dr. Phil paid for him to attend treatment.
Now, with 6 years clean under his belt, Williams continues to share his message of hope, and looks forward to using his “God-given voice” to work in the entertainment industry.
