The Madison County Youth Impact Team and the Madison County Health Department have teamed up to bring a meeting for both adults and youth to attend online to promote leadership skills and anti-drug messages to those in the community. Officials with the organizations say that the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) is important now more than ever during this drug epidemic.
WBONtv spoke to Mayor of Richmond Robert Blythe to get the background of the Youth Impact team as well as understand their crucial involvement with the Richmond Teen Center and Georgia Parks. Also interviewed was David Eastham, who details how you can get involved and register for the seminar. Eastham says that there are currently 40 individuals signed up, but that there are still 20 spots open with a tentative registration deadline set for Monday.
He adds that the registration fee is COVERED for a limited number of participants (Madison County residents get first preference, but others welcome), and that the first 20 youths to register will receive a $20 Amazon gift card and a t-shirt.
Adults also may be eligible to receive Continuing Education Credits for attending the seminars, taking place July 26-30
All youth under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult during meeting, and would need a computer and good internet connection – however Eastham says they will work out accommodations for those who need it.
Registration deadline is July 13.
