Deputies at the Madison County Detention center stopped a contraband exchange today during an inmate transportation to the hospital. According to the press release from Jailer Doug Thomas, an inmate had purposefully injured himself in order to be taken from the jail to the hospital. This prompted surveillance by deputies, who then allegedly witnessed a woman place contraband on a jail vehicle. The women, Mary Hall and Amanda Deckert, were both detained by deputies with the assistance of the Richmond Police Department. Both were charged with promoting contraband and trafficking in heroin and methamphetamine.
