An accident involving two vehicles Tuesday afternoon has resulted in one fatality, and others seriously injured.
An 8-year-old female child from West Virginia died in the wreck and was pronounced deceased after being transported to St. Joesph Berea Hospital. Next of kin is being notified.
That according to the Madison County Coroner’s office, who says the accident occurred near mile marker 77 southbound on I-75 around 2 p.m.
Four other people were transported for injuries.
Southbound traffic on the interstate has been backed up for miles since the accident around as traffic was rerouted and flagged by emergency workers in the area before exit 77 to Buc-cees.
Richmond Police Department is conducting the re-construction of the accident.
