UPDATE: Names Released:
According to Madison County Sheriff Mike Coyle, Tommy Edington, the estranged husband of
Amanda Edington was present at 1070 Mule Shed Lane armed with a shotgun. Amanda
witnessed Tommy outside the residence and locked the door before she, James Spicer, son to
Amanda, and Hogan Rose (acquaintance) retreated to the master bedroom. Edington kicked open a side door to gain entry to the residence and exchanged gunfire with
Hogan Rose. During the shooting at the residence Tommy Edington and Hogan Rose sustained
gunshot wounds.
Hogan Rose left the scene and transported himself to Baptist Health Richmond. James Spicer
was not injured. Edington barricaded himself in a bathroom with Amanda Edington before surrendering himself
to Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies without further incident.
Tommy Edington was transported to UK Medical Center for his injuries. He has been charged
with Murder-Domestic Violence (Attempt), Burglary 1 st Degree, Violation of a Kentucky
EPO/DVO), and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Edington will be transported to the Madison County Detention Center when released from UK
Medical Center.
Residents of Mule Shed Lane in Madison County were shocked this morning when a large presence of law enforcement and first responders reported to a shooting. The sheriff’s office reports that a domestic violence situation led to gunshots being fired. According to the report, a man with a protective order against him, went to his estranged wife’s home on Mule Shed Lane. The Madison County sheriff’s office report say her estranged husband came up to the residence armed with a shotgun. The husband, according eyewitness reports from neighbors to wbontv, say he fired shots after gaining entrance to the home where another man fired back. The people at the home took refuge in a master bath of the master bathroom. Two occupants were said to have escaped the home as the husband was attempting to re load the shotgun. Deputies state the husband tried to barricade himself with the woman for a short time, but surrendered without incident.
Deputies arrived at the home after the shots were fired, and the husband was taken for treatment and will be facing charges. His injuries are reported as non life threatening. The other man shot was taken to Baptist Health hospital and released. The wife was unharmed. Names are still being withheld at press time.
