It goes without saying that it has been the hottest Kentucky September and October on record, and with the dry conditions the Commonwealth is declared a tinderbox by officials.

The burn ban for Madison County went into affect in early August, and other counties had followed suit or had already instituted their own burn bans.

With recent fires, usually started by humans accidentally both in local homes and in the Daniel Boone National Forest, it is now more important than ever to know exactly what these burn bans mean.

Wbontv spoke to Chief of Madison County Fire Tim Gray, who explained what the burn ban by the County mandates, as well as gives tips to ensure you and yours stay safe during these dry periods.
