Footage From Fast Moving Flood Waters in Irvine

From Estill County EMA/CSEPP:
·         As of 10:15am KY River is at 25.28ft
·         River is expected to crest at 27.2ft this evening
·         Roads that are currently flooded: Red Lick Rd., Millers Creek Rd., Dark Hollow, Noland Creek, Murphy’s Ford and Sang Branch.
·         FLOOD WARNING until 2-14-2018
·         We ask that residents in flood areas not to cross flooded roads. Please find an alternate route. The water is moving quickly and rising at a steady pace. Not only can the water float your car, but you cannot tell if the road has been washed away.
According to FEMA:
– Six inches of water will reach the bottom of most passenger cars, causing loss of control and potential stalling.
– A foot of water will float many vehicles.
– Two feet of rushing water will carry away most vehicles, including SUVs and pickups.
