On Sunday, April 28, 2024 at approximately 5:25 PM, Kentucky State Police, London Post was requested by Rockcastle County 911 for a welfare check on Goochland Cave Road in Rockcastle County.
When officers arrived, they located a deceased male from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as Joshua L. Dooley, 43, of Mount Vernon. Mr. Dooley was pronounced deceased by the Rockcastle County Coroner. Mr. Dooley has been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
As a result of the investigation, KSP Detectives are currently attempting to locate a person of interest, Clayton D. Cox, 49, of Mount Vernon, Ky. They stress please do not attempt to approach Mr. Cox, as KSP believes him to be armed and dangerous.
