Two tornadoes have now been confirmed in Madison County. According to the National Weather Service, damage incurred along Highway 595 north of the Kirksville community was done by a tornado, rated as an EF-1.
Several barns and homes were damaged during this weather event in Northern Madison County. Meanwhile, another storm produced a tornado in the Madison County area according to the NWS.
The first was a storm which occurred at 4:31 AM and traveled a half mile, five miles NNW of Richmond along I-75 and Colonel Road. The path was determined to have a width of 125 yards. Wind gusts reached speeds of 90 miles per hour.
The second funnel has been determined to be an EF-1 as well, with max wind gusts of 90 miles per hour.This second event occurred in the Kirksville area of Madison County. The dangerous storm continued through the area a total of a quarter mile.
