A single-vehicle fatal collision that occurred in Franklin County earlier today, at around 12:30 PM EDT (Sunday, June 15) is being investigated by the Kentucky State Police Post 12 in Frankfort.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a Ford van was traveling west on East Main Street when it struck a telephone pole at the intersection of Butler Drive. A passenger, Carolyn Jackson, 76 years of age from Franklin County, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased on the scene by the Franklin County Coroner’s office. A second passenger, James Jackson, 81 years of age from Franklin County, was transported to Frankfort Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased by the coroner’s office. The driver, Terrones Mitchell, was also transported to the Frankfort Regional Medical Center, where he was admitted for his injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing. KSP was assisted at the scene by the Frankfort Police Department and the Franklin County Coroner’s office.
