Sheriff Coyle Weighs in on Award, Accreditation, and Drug Task Force

Recently, Madison county sheriff Mike Coyle received the prestigious award of Kentucky Sheriff of the Year. The statewide award is given out each year by the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association.

Coyle, who has 38 years in law enforcement, was completely surprised when he got the call to make sure he would be at the banquet last weekend in Bowling Green.

Coyle says that his deputies nominated him, and he was honored to be a part of the line of sheriffs receiving the award. The sheriff’s department also received their official accreditation this year, which had been in the works for two years.

Moving forward, Coyle says that retention rates and pay and benefits for his deputies is of utmost importance.

He also says his HIDTA drug task force that he helped organize as a multiple agency program will continue to beef up their efforts as the drug epidemic only seems to worsen in Madison County.
