Richmond Parks & Recreation is announcing the grand opening of the Million Park Dog Park, creating a new space for dog owners to play, exercise, and interact with their pets.
The grand opening will take place on Friday, September 27th at Million Park (240 Stratford Drive) at 12PM EST. This event will include a ribbon cutting and treats for dogs and humans alike. In addition to the Grand Opening of the facility, the Richmond Police Department will provide opportunities for the public to meet and greet their new K-9 Officer “Logan”.
“Parents of dogs are always looking for ways to keep their puppies entertained and their older dogs fit and healthy. This new dog park will be a great opportunity for the dog-loving community and we hope that it is well received,” said Erin Moore, Director of Recreation/Administration for Richmond Parks & Recreation.
The Million Park Dog Park contains two enclosures, one for large and one for small dogs, dog waste stations, water fountain, benches, and picnic tables. The new dog park will be a welcome addition to the parks facilities and will offer an additional off-leash area to compliment the Judy Rains Memorial Dog Park located in Lake Reba Park.
The Million Park Dog Park is located in a central part of the city and contains numerous amenities to make it easier for owners to enjoy bring their pets to the park. Additionally, the dog park’s proximity to several other amenities in the park, like the playground and soccer fields, make it a very attractive area for families who live in the area of Barnes Mill Rd & Main Street to come out and enjoy the space.
All members of the community are invited and dog owners are encouraged to bring their pets to the event. Puppies and dogs who attend with their parents must be on-leash to the fenced in area, must be over 6 months old, and must have all of their shots.
