Charlotte Hornets forward, Montrezl Harrell is reportedly facing a felony drug charge after state law enforcement allegedly found vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana in his car during a traffic stop.
Harrell, a former player for EKU Coach A.W. Hamilton during his time at Hargrave Military Academy, now 28, was pulled over in Richmond, Ky. The Kentucky State Trooper who initiated the traffic stop reportedly stated the NBA player was pulled over for allegedly driving behind another vehicle too closely.
According to court records, the Trooper reported smelling the odor of Marijuana as he approached the vehicle. This initiated cause for a search, and it was reported that up to three pounds of Marijuana in vacuum-sealed bags were located in his backpack.
Harrell, who has been charged with trafficking less than five pounds, if convicted, could see up to five years in prison. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 13th in the Madison County Court District.
