After a much needed bye week, EKU is set to not only kick off homecoming this Saturday, but also welcome in a tough Tarleton State team who is just as hungry for a conference victory as the Colonels.
While Eastern was resting up for this weeks game, the Texans of Tarleton faced Southern Utah in conference, and lost 27-26.
This sets up a massive matchup in the United Athletic Conference for these two schools and for conference rankings at the halfway point of the college football season. With a win, the colonels would not only find themselves at 2-0 in the conference, but also at 3-3 overall. This wouldn’t be a bad record at all, seeing as the Colonels three loses are to Cincinnati, Kentucky, and top 10 ranked in the FCS Western Carolina.
The preseason conference favorite Colonels are very much in the UAC mix and have a chance to make an important statement with a win over the Texans. As quickly as this season has moved along, EKU knows every game from this point on will impact playoff positioning.
The great fan support has been key in EKU’s two home games this season. In those games, EKU has competed against two top 25 FCS teams and lost and won on the final play in both matches.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3 PM and homecoming festivities will take place throughout the game and during the tailgate, nearby the Colonel Courtyard.
