Detectives with the Madison County Drug Task Force concluded an investigation on Thursday, March 31, 2022, with the arrest of a Detroit man accused of trafficking heroin, fentanyl and flouorfentanyl. The initial investigation alleges Janard Wesley-Hughes, 42 years old of Detroit, MI, was involved in trafficking large amounts of illegal narcotics in Madison County. An investigation which began in February 2022 resulted in the seizure of heroin, fentanyl, and fluorofentanyl. As a result, Wesley-Hughes is charged in United States Federal Court with Possession with intent to distribute fluorofentanyl (10 grams or more).
Hughes is lodged in the Madison County Detention Center. The Madison County Drug Task Force is an Appalachia HIDTA funded initiative comprised of Detectives from the Richmond Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kentucky State Police. The Madison County Drug Task Force is assisted in this investigation by Lexington DEA and the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
