Madison Central coming into the Jack Burford Classic was looking to make a statement in the first game over region rival Frederick Douglas. The Indians (3-6) opened the game with a three pointer which Douglas answered but midway through the first Central went on a 12-0 run to lead it 20-5. Douglas (3-6) cut the lead down to 12 at half. Taleya Todd led all scorers with 12 points. The Lady Indians forced 15 turnovers in the opening half. The third quarter the Lady Indians came out and took care of business, holding Douglas to only 6 points in the quarter while scoring 19. Central cruises to a win 70-46. The Indians force 34 turnovers and will return to action Thursday at noon. The Indians were led by Taleya Todd 18 points 5 assist. Bailey Vanover with 16 points 10 rebounds and 11 steals to get a triple double. Je’Kauri McKeithen led all scorers with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Blaze Pacheco with 8 points, Logan Hudson with 3 points, Kelsey Powell had 2 points, Gabby Duerson with 2 points and Lacie Parks with 1 point. Destyne Jackson, the Henry Clay transfer, led Douglas with 23 points.
