The Laurel County Sheriff Office is reporting an investigation of an apparent drowning which occurred off Hatcher Road
approximately 3 miles east of London.
Area residents reportedly found a male subject, identified as 52-year-old Jeffrey Whitis in a pond off Hatcher Road and notified Laurel County Law Enforcement. Emergency service personnel located the male subject and determined that he was unresponsive. The Laurel County Coroner pronounced the victim deceased a short time later.
Also assisting at the scene was the London Laurel rescue squad, Laurel County volunteer fire
department, and ambulance Inc. of Laurel County. The investigation is still underway.
