Madison Central with an impressive win

Day number two of the Jack Burford Chevy Christmas Classic opened with the host team playing Menifee County. Menifee came into the classic with a 5-1 record and improved that to 6-1 with a victory Wednesday over Pulaski County 49-38. Central (4-5) came into day number two with a solid victory over region rival Frederick Douglas 70-46.

The game started all Central as they would race out to a 11-2 lead in the opening quarter and lead 13-8 after one. Je’Kauri McKeithen led the Lady Indians with 4 points in the quarter. Second quarter Menifee County battled back to tie the game 4 different times in the frame. Menifee did most of their damage in the second at the free throw line going 6-10.Central forced 13 turnovers and held Menifee to 34% from the field in the half including 0-9 from three pointer. Freshman Lacie Parks knocked down a three pointer to give the Lady Indians a 27-24 lead at half. Sophomore Taleya Todd led with 7 points. Menifee star junior Emma Hacker had 8 points. Second half Todd came out and opened the half scoring the Indians first 7 points. Menifee ties the game two times in the third quarter but could never take the lead. Todd with 9 points in the quarter and the Indians held an eight point lead after three. Fourth quarter Central had to hold off a rally from Menifee County but the best the Ladycats could do would be tie the game a couple of times. For the Game Central led the entire way and the game was tied six times. Quality win for Madison Central over a good Menifee County, Indians force Ladycats into 27 turnovers, scoring 21 points off those turnovers, while committing 16 of their own, only 4 in the fourth quarter. Taleya Todd leads all scorers with 22 points and also has 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals. Bailey Vanover with 15 points 7 rebounds assists and 5 steals after a triple double in game one. Lacie Parks with 8 points off the bench, Kelsey Powell 7 points, Je’Kauri McKeithen 6 points and 7 rebounds. Eliza Minter 3 points, Blaze Pacheco 2 points, and Logan Hudson with 2 points for the Indians. Indians return to action Friday 12-22 at noon against Belfry (6-3) another tough test.
