Earlier today, District 88 Republican Candidate Monteia Mundy took to Facebook to tell her side of the story regarding her DUI from late last month, and the guilty plea she issued in Madison District court today. From her opponent Aaron Yates, here is his response:
In response, Yates released the following statement, “I stand by my original statement that her behavior is disqualifying and her continuing to stay in this race after her DUI arrest hurts Republicans and helps Democrats.”
“Let’s not mince words, my opponent under her own will drove under the influence of drugs and alcohol, struck a young woman rendering her car immobile on the side of the road and then fled the scene to avoid the consequences of her actions. Today Monteia claimed she’ll accept the consequences of her actions, yet believes she gets to determine what those consequences are. As someone in the legal profession, she should know that’s not how justice works.”
Last week the campaign of Aaron Yates received documentation and audio of the events that transpired on April 25 under the Kentucky Open Records Act, these documents are contrary to the narrative that Ms. Mundy continues to present.
