Indians/Eagles Set To Meet On Gridiron Friday Night

Madison Central versus Madison Southern…no matter the sport both fan bases get fired up just a little extra for the game. Since 2013 the two school,separated by only eleven miles, have met yearly on the football field. The first two games were won by the Eagles but since then Madison Central have won the last three meetings.

The two teams had completely different beginnings to the season, Indians started 2-0 with two dominating wins while the Eagles opened with two losses with a tough loss at Garrard County by two points. Last week at the Doc Sipple Bowl Madison Central fell to 5A power Southwestern while the Eagles finally put everything together in a game and dominated Bourbon County. Regardless of the records coming in Indians are #10 in class 6A (2-1) the Eagles are (1-2) and received a vote in this weeks 5A poll the games are always fun for both fan bases.

Indians are led by Senior running back Freddy Chenault who has rushed for 359 yards and 6 touchdowns in the first three games. Senior quarterback Derrick Miller has passed for 223 yards and 2 scores while rushing for 190 more yards. Ethan Hahn has rushed for 100 yards and is tied for the team lead in receptions with 5. Ben Snapp shares the lead in receptions along with leading the tough Indian defense. In three games Central has allowed only 39 points with 26 of those coming last week. In three games Indians have forced 8 turnovers while sacking the opposing quarterback three times.

Madison Southern is led by first year quarterback Tobais Storm, Storm has passed for 248 yards and 3 touchdowns and rushed for 323 more yards. Alex Knuckles has 231 yards while averaging 12 yards a carry. Isiah Buttry leads the ground game with 4 touchdowns. Clay Tinsley has come into his own this season not only leading the receivers with 6 catches and 114 yards he is contributing big on special teams returning a kickoff last week against Bourbon County to spur the offense.
