History has been made as a new president has been announced for Georgetown College. The college’s Board of Trustees named Doctor Rosemary Allen as the new president, marking the first time a woman has held the esteemed position.
Previous president of the nearly 200-year old college William Jones was fired late last year on the heels of allegations of sexual assault of a female colleague. The college says these allegations remain under investigation.
Allen has previously also been the first woman to serve as the provost/dean of Georgetown College: a position she had held since 2004. She has also served twice as acting president of the college.
