In a follow up to yesterday’s story about an Estill County Middle School student being arrested for being in possession of a firearm, school officials are alerting parents to what they describe as a “Tik Tok” challenge encouraging misbehavior.
The statement says ” All school districts across Kentucky were notified by the Kentucky Center for School Safety, of a revised Tik Tok challenge that has been circulating around the country. According to multiple news sources, the new challenge is to pose threats against schools on December 17th.”
Due to the incident that occurred in Estill County Wednesday, officials say they wanted to make sure that all parents and community members were aware of this situation. The statement continues, “We are asking that all of our parents and guardians have a conversation with their children this evening to discuss the ramifications that shall occur if they decide to participate in this type of behavior. Also, please remind your children that if they see or hear something concerning a threat of school violence, they should report it immediately to you or a trusted adult.
