EKU Football Opens Season Thursday Night At Home

EKU Sophomore Guard Jomaru Brown Declares For NBA Draft

It was no April fool’s day joke as the Colonels top player Jomaru Brown declared for the NBA draft. Brown was named 1st team All OVC this season after averaging 18.4 points a game.

Jomaru was one of coach AW Hamilton’s first recruits to Richmond from Raleigh North Carolina. Brown was a prolific scorer in high school averaging 19 points a game as a senior on the way to being named player of the year in his conference.

As a freshman Jomaru was 7th in the OVC in scoring (16.9) and was named to all newcomer team. He played in 31 games starting 12. He finished the season averaging 14.4 points a game as a freshman.

This past season Brown really stepped up for the Colonels. He started 30 games while playing in 32. He averaged 18.4 points a game and 126 rebounds. He had 87 assists and 61 steals. He played nearly 30 minutes a contest and shot 39% from the field while knocking down 45 3 pointers.

In two seasons at EKU he played in 63 games starting 42 and averaged 16.4 points a game. He averaged nearly 2 steals a game and 3.5 rebounds a game.

It appears that Brown is just testing the NBA waters at this time to see where his stock is and has not signed with an agent. If he doesn’t sign with an agent he will be able to return to EKU for his junior season.
