EKU rose to the occasion in their big game Saturday night, which also happened to be the program’s 1st ever United Athletic Conference game.
Sitting at 1-3, Saturdays game against North Alabama was seemingly another must win for the Colonels.
EKU did just that, winning 32-22.
For boxscore watchers, the victory over UNA would be confusing, as the Lions passed for 169 more yards than the Colonels and had 11 more first downs.
Parker McKinney had a solid day, throwing for 256 passing yards on 14 completions and adding two touchdowns.
Joshua Carter carried the load for the Colonels rushing with 140 yards and a touchdown.
On the defensive end, while the Colonels did give up a ton of passing yards, they did come together when it mattered most. Logan Blake secured 15 tackles, while Nic Cheeley was close behind with 11.
The Colonels now sit at 2-3 heading into their bye week. They will need the extra rest as the current 2nd place team in the UAC is coming to Richmond. Tarleton State will be a challenge for the Colonels, one the hometown maroon team will once again be ready for.
EKU versus Tarleton state will be the annual homecoming game. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM on October 14th.
