Effective today, the Breathitt County Sheriff’s office has announced that all operations will be limited including office personnel, deputies and court security.
They say that all of the above positions will be laid off effective Thursday, at 4p.m.
A letter posted on social media, which you can see here, elaborates that the county is lacking funds in order to staff the department.
The letter went on to insinuate that it blamed Breathitt County Judge Executive Jeff Noble. The Sheriff continued that he tried many avenues, but at the end was unable to pay his employees. The sheriff will continue to man the station until these issues are resolved.
