Behavioral health services in the Richmond area will be expanded following a $300,000 gift to Baptist Health Foundation Richmond from the Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass Joint Venture today.“We have fostered a safety culture on our project to ensure our workers are protected from harm,” said Ron Hink, departing BPBGJV project manager. “We recognize that mental well-being is just as important as physical well-being. We believe this enduring legacy gift will bring benefits to this community well into the future. “
Greg D. Gerard, President of Baptist Health Richmond, is grateful for the legacy gift. “Bechtel Parsons strong commitment to safety and mental well-being is evident in all they do,” said Gerard. “They truly embrace that mental health is just as important as physical health and this donation will make an incredible impact in the work we are doing to improve the mental health in the lives of those in need.”
Gerard noted Hink was instrumental in securing this gift and reflected his personal passion for mental health. “Ron will be sorely missed, but his legacy and that of Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass will be lasting.”
Behavioral health services at Baptist Health Richmond include:
- Care for individuals dealing with mental illness, such as anxiety, depression, and drug and alcohol dependency;
- Outpatient services include therapy, Adult Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program, and medical-assisted treatment for substance abuse disorder.
Community members experiencing a mental health crisis can receive care in the Emergency department, 24/7. BPBGJV is the systems contractor selected by the Department of Defense to design, build, systemize, test, operate, and close the facility which destroyed the chemical weapons stockpile at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Richmond. Destruction of the stockpile of 523 tons of chemical weapons was safely completed on July 7, 2023. Since then, closure activities have begun at the site’s Main Plant.
