After adding Drae Vasser, a guard from Louisville late last week to the roster, EKU Men’s Head Basketball Coach AW Hamilton has continued to bring in talent to don the Maroon and White over the weekend.
Josh Lowe, a 6-foot-8 forward, has signed to play basketball at Eastern Kentucky University after two seasons playing at Moberly Area Community College and is one of the top-100 ranked JUCO players in the nation.
This past season, Lowe averaged 9.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. He shot 47% from the field and 42% from 3-point range, going 35-for-85 from behind the arc.
“Josh is very skilled, versatile and can really score the basketball,” EKU Head Coach A.W. Hamilton said. “He’s relentless on the offensive glass. The most intriguing thing about Josh is how he competes on the defensive end and can guard multiple positions.”
Lowe recorded six double-doubles in 2025-26. He scored a season-high 26 points at Missouri State-West Plains on Jan. 28. He pulled down a season-best 13 rebounds, including eight off the offensive glass at Highland Community College.
As a freshman in 2024-25, the Lewisville, Texas native averaged 3.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Coach Hamilton and his staff have also added Shadrak Lasu, a 6-foot-8 forward, that will transfer to play for the Colonels this upcoming season.
Lasu played his first two seasons of collegiate basketball at Long Island University. He helped the Sharks to a 24-11 record and Northeast Conference regular season and tournament titles this past season. LIU faced No. 1 seed Arizona in the NCAA Tournament.
As a sophomore, Lasu averaged 5.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks while starting 34 games for LIU. He shot 53% from the field and hit 9-of-21 from behind the arc (43%).
“Shadrak is our kind of player,” said EKU Head Coach A.W. Hamilton. “He’s a 2-year starter, he’s been to the NCAA Tournament, and he brings toughness and physicality every time he steps on the floor. His versatility, both offensively and defensively, fit us perfectly. He hasn’t even scratched the surface on how good he’s going to be.”
The Winnipeg, Canada native scored a season-best 13 points and grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds against Wagner in the semifinals of the NEC Tournament. He blocked six shots in a game against Stonehill.
As a freshman in 2024-25, Lasu earned NEC All-Rookie Team honors after averaging 5.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. He led the conference in rebounds per game. He was chosen as the NEC Rookie of the Week twice and the NEC Prime Performer on two occasions. Lasu scored a season-best 16 points against Lehigh and pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds against Chicago State.
Lasu played at Northstar Prep where he was a National Preparatory Association (NPA) All-Defensive First Team selection.
