The interstate in Rockcastle county has been under construction for as long as some of us can remember, and it reportedly will not be changing anytime soon.
This congestion may have had something to do with the numerous wrecks as of late on i75 in the area, including one that resulted in the death of an 11 year old girl this weekend. Another collision involving a u-haul last Thursday resulted in the stretch of highway being shut down for hours.
WBON-TV went down to the accident prone area to check it out for ourselves, and spoke to public information officer for Kentucky transportation Cabinet District 8 in Somerset, Amber Hale, who said they do not believe the construction was the cause of any wrecks.
Hale also says to pay attention to the reduced speed in the area, especially with the holiday traffic in the coming days. She says to exercise caution now more than ever by paying attention to signs as there will be increased traffic and travelers.
