Rory Houlihan says he was recommended to make the run for Kentucky House District 73 on the Democratic ticket as he believes there needs to be change in Frankfort.
Houlihan explains that he has worked in retail for years, and this gives him a distinct advantage as he knows a lot about business on both sides. He says he graduated from a small private college in Wisconsin, but has called Kentucky home for quite some time.
Houlihan’s main area that he wishes to tackle should he be elected to represent Madison and Clark counties is the economy. He says things have changed quite a bit, and continue to with new trends and millennials. He says that people at the poverty level are affected by corporate greed and bottlenecks higher up than anyone else.
He also spoke about the trend of privatization at the state level for education. He says Governor Bevin is trying to keep chipping away at funding for public schools, and this needs to change. A fix for this, he explains, is expanding the tax base out.
Houlihan had many ideas that could hardly fit in the time allotted, but he says he appreciates your vote and has a lot of unique solutions that he wishes to bring to the Capitol.
