Madison County Sports Hall of Fame announces first class of inductees.

Tickets on sale for the third annual Madison County Sports Hall of Fame induction dinner.

The Madison County Sports Hall of Fame ceremony is right around the corner and tickets for the 2024 Madison County Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner go on sale Monday, April 29, at the Richmond Area Arts Center (RAAC), located at 339 West Water Street.

Tickets are priced at $25 each and a limited number of tickets remain for the event which has sold out the previous two years. Lee Browder, a member of the MCSHoF Board of Directors, will be at the RAAC Monday thru Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to handle ticket purchases on a first-come, first-serve basis.

A few sponsorship tables are also available up until April 29. To become an official sponsor of the Madison County Sports Hall of Fame, individuals and businesses are invited to join at one of three levels– Fan Level ($100-249) includes two tickets; the All-Star Level ($250-499), includes four tickets; or the MVP Level ($500 and above) includes a full table with eight tickets. To become a sponsor, visit the official website to complete and return the sponsorship form that can be found on the site.

Nine individuals and three teams of distinction will be inducted into the third Hall of Fame class on Saturday, May 18, beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Perkins Building at EKU and will air live on WBONTV Channel 9 and stream everywhere WBONTV can be found such as Facebook, YouTube and the WBONTV Roku Channel.

The nine individual inductees (listed alphabetically) will be: Phillis Wirtz Adams (Richmond Little League leader), Keith Bosley (football player), Jimmy Cain (baseball player), Mike Elkin (football coach),Dominique Hawkins (basketball player), Dr. Harold Moberly, Jr. (three-sport player), Pat Stephens (golf player and coach), Taryn Ignacio Patrick (diving athlete and coach), Spider Thurman (football player and coach), The three teams of distinction include the 1956 and 1957 Madison-Model High School Football Teams, and the 1978 Madison High School Girls’ Class AA State Championship Track Team.
