A clash between man and beast has resulted in the unlikely death of a Woodford County man.
The Department of Fish and Wildlife reports 37-year-old Jared Hausfeld of Woodford County apparently wounded a deer while hunting over the weekend.
The man then tracked the deer, and the wounded animal attacked Hausfeld, resulting in and ultimately causing his death.
Saturday, October 21, 2023, around 2:30 p.m., the Anderson County Coroner’s Office removed the Versailles man from the Gilbert Creek Road area in Lawrenceburg.
The initial investigative findings point to supporting the theory that Hausfeld was attempting to harvest the wounded deer, when the encounter between he and the animal broke out.
The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife.
