Workers scramble as gun discharges in Richmond bar

What is normally a very peaceful and pleasant place to relax and unwind all took a turn for the worse early Wednesday morning. That’s when staff at the Paddy Wagon in downtown Richmond were shocked and sent scrambling when a gunshot went off in the local restaurant and bar.

Richmond Police responded to the scene just after midnight, and the owner reportedly stated the last patron of the night had paid his tab and apparently dropped a handgun. He stated the man tried to catch it, and subsequently fired a round in the bar. The man then fled the scene, losing the handgun again in the process. Officers recovered the handgun, and ran a check, determining the gun to be reported stolen.

According to police reports, the bar owner and an employee were both in substantial danger from their proximity to the shot fired.

Arrested in connection with the case was James K. Parsons, 30, of Paint Lick. He is charged with Wanton Endangerment, Fleeing & Evading, Receiving Stolen Property, and various drug charges. Parsons was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
