The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update to the single vehicle traffic fatality which occurred yesterday morning on Pine Grove School Road.
Investigators say that a pickup truck driven by 37 year-old William Petrey was traveling Eastbound on Pine Grove School Road with a female subject in the back of the truck. The subject, identified as 37 year-old Rebecca Warren of London, was reportedly “screaming for [Petrey] to stop the truck”.
According to police, Petrey proceeded to steer the vehicle off of the roadway, before striking two fence posts and a tree. This lead to Warren’s ejection from the truck, causing her to strike a nearby barn. The truck then continued across the field before eventually coming to a rest. Warren was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained from striking the barn.
Following an investigation, Petrey was arrested by Laurel County authorities and charged with 2nd Degree Manslaughter.
