In Richmond, it has been reported that residents found a strange package on their door handles this morning in multiple subdivisions, including Gibson Bay. The package, saying it is from a water company out of Louisville, has a defunct telephone number and address. The small package has a vial attached and looks official. The yellow flyer instructs residents to provide a water sample, and replace on their doors by tomorrow morning at 9 am. General Manager of Richmond Utilities Scott Althauser says this is in no way affiliated with local utilities.
“We at Richmond Utilities are not associated with this test in any way, shape, form or fashion, and are not promoting this. We have no idea at this time what the business is looking for. Our water is tested everyday–hourly–at the water plant…and we meet state standards for all of our tests.”
It is believed the business could be using a sales ploy to sell water purifiers, instead of being a legitimate utilities company, so Althauser says add your address at your own risk, as this could be the beginning of harassing sales calls. Calls to the company as well as looking up the address did no good-as an error message is played when the number is dialed.
