Wallingford Media Company’s popular radio station, 100.7 “The Coyote”, is holding their annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Friday August 18, 2022 at the media complex at 128 Big Hill Avenue in Richmond. The radio station teams up with other local businesses like Zaxby’s, Sonny’s BBQ, Jacksons restaurant and others each year to provide meals and drinks to local law enforcement and first responders.
Candice Agee, Marketing Specialist with Wallingford Media, says the event was born three years ago amid a lot of negative nationwide sentiments against police and law enforcement. “We were really shocked by the national attention of initiatives to defund police departments and so many law enforcement officials were being shot, injured or generally disrespected, and we wanted to do something locally to show these men and women how essential they are and how much they are appreciated,” Agee said.
Agee added “The response has been phenomenal. Our business people wanted to be involved and the first responders and officers repeatedly let us know how much it means to them. They show up in big numbers every year to grab a drink and box lunch and even register for some fun prizes.”
The staff of Wallingford Media and the supporting sponsors hope you will tell your friends or family members who serve in these capacities to swing by for lunch on us this Friday. The event gets under way around 12:30 and will run until about 2.
Wallingford Media is the parent company of WBON-TV9 and other affiliated radio stations in the region.
