The man accused of critically injuring another man in a Richmond shooting on Monday, Kareen Jenkins of Georgia, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him in a Madison county courtroom today. The 38 year old answered not guilty to charges of first degree assault for the shooting. Jenkins is also charged with fleeing and evading police, possession of a handgun by a felon, and was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine in amounts warranting additional trafficking charges.
The judge set a $250,000 bond, and Jenkins’s next hearing is scheduled for August 7th.

In an update to the shooting that occurred yesterday in Richmond, RPD has identified and arrested a subject. According to police, Kareen Jenkins of Georgia has been charged with first degree assault for the shooting, as well as fleeing and evading police, possession of a handgun by a felon, and was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine in amounts warranting additional trafficking charges.
The victim is in the hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
