This morning, sources told WBONtv that Whitehall Elementary was on lockdown and an evacuation plan was in place.
Children were planned to be moved via buses to a nearby church as what was thought to be an unknown person was seen in the building. According to the Madison County Board of Education, an unknown individual was seen entering the rear of the school, but the individual has now been identified and classes returned to normal. Busses were lined up and ready for children and police were on scene.
Assistant Chief of Richmond Police Rodney Richardson told WBON that the school acted quickly when they saw what was a new teacher on camera that was not readily identified, and made sure that a plan was enacted immediately to keep kids safe.
