Last night at the Citizens Police Academy students met two undercover officers with HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area).
The HIDTA course focuses on drug activity and trying to stop the drug epidemic within Madison County. Students got to see vials containing drugs to show how many forms one drug can have, and learned the potency of different substances.
Grendalyn explained how she learned the ins and outs of the different highs from drugs and how the pill mills boomed which led to the drug epidemic in Kentucky. Also, she discussed about how heartbreaking this epidemic is for not only the families but the community.
Next week, stay tuned for the emergency response lesson where the students engage in field activities outside of the DOJCT classroom.
