On Wednesday morning, Richmond Police responded to a call about a family disturbance. Upon arrival, the officer observed 19-year-old Nykee Chenault and two female subjects in the breezeway of an apartment building.
Chenault’s mother reportedly attempted to talk to the officer, but Chenault kept talking over her while “stepping at her in an aggressive manner”. According to the citation, Chenault also had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from his person.
Allegedly, the officer tapped Chenault on the shoulder in an effort to get him to turn around and avoid further confrontation. This resulted in Chenault telling the officer to “keep his hands off of him” before resuming arguing with his mother. At this time, residents of the apartment building had opened their doors to see what was going on outside.
The officer then determined that Chenault was manifestly under the influence of alcoholic beverages in a public place and a danger to himself and others. Chenault was arrested and transferred to the Madison County Detention Center where he was charged with Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place and Disorderly Conduct.
