MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A truck driver was killed Saturday afternoon when his vehicle left the roadway along Interstate Highway 75 in Madison County.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reported that the crash occurred around 4 p.m. near mile marker 82 on the northbound site.
The crash and accompanying fuel spill shut down traffic in the area for hours.
Officials said the driver was a 58-year-old from South Dakota. His name has not yet been released.
The driver crossed two lanes and rolled far off the road.
“Lucky it just didn’t hit someone else and just disappeared,” said Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison. “You can’t even see the truck from where we are right now.”
The man’s body was sent to Frankfort for an autopsy. No other injuries were reported.
