According to the Mount Vernon Fire Department, Mount Vernon Crews responded to a trash fire that got out of control and into the nearby woods. The fire occurred around 3:00 pm Sunday afternoon. A small outbuilding was a complete loss as a result of the fire. As a reminder, Kentucky is still under the spring statewide burn ban. No outdoor burning is permitted between the hours of 6:00 am and 6:00 pm please use caution with any outdoor burning. The strong winds that accompany warmer temperatures this time of year only increase chances of fire damage.
