We are learning more regarding the circumstances surrounding that vehicle vs. train accident on Red House Road in Madison County over the weekend.
Officials tell WBON-TV9, that 42-year-old Mark Sutton of Cynthiana, for unknown reasons at this time, left Red House Road and drove his jeep down the railroad tracks nearly 3/4 of a mile toward Richmond.
The vehicle was eventually struck by a CSX train just before 2 Saturday afternoon.
Sutton was transported to UK Hospital Trauma Center for extensive injuries but is expected to recover.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
