A large home was totally destroyed by fire Thursday night in Madison County.
The residence, in the 100 block of River Bend Road, located just off College Hill, was totally engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene. The fire call came in just before 6 p.m.
Union City and Whitehall Fire Departments assisted Madison County and Waco Volunteer Fire Departments with water tankers, as no hydrants were available in the vicinity. According to reports, the nearest hydrant was over 4 miles from the scene.
The family was home at the time of the fire, but no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and an investigation into the case is underway.
