An arrest has been made this morning after a tense matter at the 49’er Truck Stop in Laurel County.
According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s office, an undercover operation was planned for some time to make a major drug purchase at the popular fuel center off I-75 at exit 49. The deal was to go down in early morning hours this Monday.
When officers initiated a traffic stop on the subject, he attempted to get away ramming and causing damage to two Laurel Sheriff unit vehicles. Reportedly the subject brandish a weapon and would not allow anyone to approach the vehicle, and kept two other occupants of the vehicle at gunpoint refusing to let them exit.
Eventually officials were able to take the subjects into custody without further incident and no injuries were reported.
All access to the fuel center and HWY 909 was cut off while authorities dealt with the situation.
